US firm signs deal with Haryana government to create 2,000 jobs

  • The Haryana government has signed a deal with a leading US firm to manufacture air conditioners at an eight-acre facility in Gurgaon that will generate about 2,000 jobs
  • The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Connecticut-based firm United Technologies Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar
  • Under the MoU which was signed at the company's headquarters, the firm will expand its facilities in the city and set up an eight-acre unit to manufacture air conditioners, creating 2,000 jobs in the process
  • United Technologies provides a broad range of high-technology products and support services to customers in the aerospace and building industries worldwide

Bangladesh became first country to receive funds from UN for Solar Home Systems

  • Bangladesh became the first country to receive funds from the United Nations (UN) for its fast growing solar home systems
  • The UN Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) issued 395286 carbon credits worth 3.56 million US Dollar to two Bangladeshi organisations
  • Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (IDCOL) and Grameen Shakti are the two organisations that won the carbon credits
  • The UNFCCC has issued 212482 carbon credits to the IDCOL and 182804 credits to Grameen Shakti

Minority Ministry Launches Online Application Management System (OAMS) for “Nai Roshni” 

  • Dr. Najma Heptulla,the Union Minister for Minority Affairs Launched Online Application Management System (OAMS) for “Nai Roshni” 
  • Speaking on the occasion she said the system brings the scheme in to public domain and will facilitate transparency and quick delivery
“Nai Roshni”:  

  1. A scheme for Leadership Development of Minority Women since 2012-13, to empower and instill confidence in women by providing knowledge, tools and techniques for interacting with Government systems, banks and intermediaries at all levels
  2. The scheme is implemented through Non -Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Civil Societies, Trust etc. The scheme provides one week training programmes followed by Handholding for one year. 
  3. The training is provided on various Training modules cover issues relating to women viz. Leadership of Women through participation in decision making, Educational Programmes for women, Health and Hygiene, Legal rights of women, Financial Literacy, Digital Literacy, Swachch Bharat, Life Skills and Advocacy for Social and Behavioural change
