Sunita soloman who detected HIV in the country died

  • Sunita Soloman who lead for detecting HIV in the country was died 
  • In 1986 she along with along with a few researcher detected the virus
  • She was a microbiologist at when blood samples she had collected from six people turned positive for HIV
  • She dedicated her life and struggled against the virus and motivated those who affected with the virus

Sacrifice of animals banned in Gandhimai festival in Nepal

  • The temple in Gandhimai banned the world's biggest sacrifice event held every year
  • The religious program conducted by the temple was continuing for 300 years
  • In the two day festival more 500,000 buffalo, goats and chickens were decapitated in Nepalese temple
  • The decision has been welcomed by the animal right activists who have been campaigning against the practice

Centre returns GCTOC Bill of Gujarat

  • The Gujarat Control Of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GCTOC) bill 2015 sent back to the state by an objection by the ministry of Information and Technology
  • Thereby the law will not be sent to the presidential assent and cannot become law yet
  • The bill introduced with the provision like increasing the period to file charge sheet from 90 to 180 days and strict conditions to grant bail
  • Also the bill empowers police to tap telephonic conversation and submit them as the evidence

Clive Rice, Former South Africa Captain, Passes Away

  • Former South Africa captain Clive Rice passed away in a Cape Town hospital on Tuesday after losing a battle to brain tumour
  • Rice was in India in to get his cancer-related tumour treated in Bangalore
  • The all-rounder captained South Africa at the age of 42 on their historic post-isolation limited overs tour of India in 1991
  • Rice score 26,331 runs at an average of 40.95 and he also took 930 wickets at 22.49 apiece before retiring in 1994
