APJ Abdul Kalam Passes away
- The former Indian President passed away while addressing at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong
- He was the President of India between 2002 and 2007
- He got the civilian awards Padmabhushan (1981) Padmavibhushan (1990) and the highest Civilian award Bharat Ratna (1997)
- He guided country's several missile programme and leading the Indian Space Research Organisation's Satellite Launch Programme
- Also he leads the weaponisation of strategic missile systems and the Pokhran II nuclear tests when he served as the scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister from July 1992 to December 1999
- His name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen "A. P. J." Abdul Kalam
Physist Dr. P. Hariharan Passes away
- Physist P Hariharan died in Berkeley California at age 89
- He worked at the National Physical Laboratory from 1949 to 1951 and at National Research Council, Ottawa from 1951-1954
- Dr. Hariharan published 200 papers and authored four books
