India’s biggest Telescope MAST inaugurated at Udaipur

  • India’s biggest telescope, the Multi Application Solar Telescope (MAST) was inaugurated at Udaiapur Solar Observatory 
  • The chairman of counselling management of Physical Research Laboratory Professor U.R Rao inaugurated MAST
  • MAST will be the biggest ever telescope which can help to study the movements of stars and sun even in the day time
  • The telescope was installed under the Ministry of Science and Technology and was funded by Department of Space

Amalendu Krishna of TIFR wins Ramanujan Prize

  • The Ramanujan Prize for 2015 has been won by mathematician Amalendu Krishna of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai
  • Dr. Krishna has been awarded for his contributions in the area of algebraic K-theory, algebraic cycles and the theory of motives
  • This is the second time it is being awarded to an Indian, with Sujatha Ramadorai having won it in 2006
  • The prize is awarded jointly by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and the International Mathematical Union (IMU)

Citizenship soon for illegal migrants fled due to religious persecution

  • Union Home Ministry will ammend the Citizenship Act 1955 for undocumented migrants those who fled from Pakistan and Bangladesh due religious persecution to get citizenship
  • It included Hindus, Buddhist, Christians, Zoraostrians, Sikh and Jains
  • The bill going to be amend are The Foreign Act 1946, Passport act 1920 and the passport rules 1950 
  • The Passport rules allow the government to offer these people long term Visas
  • They will be exempted from the status of illegal migrants
