Judge deplored delays to hear Jayalalitha Case


The immediate fate of the 18 years old disproportionate case assets case against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha rests on a supreme court
bench led by the same judge who, three years ago quetioned Tamil Nadu Govt. intentions and wondered whether it was trying to make a mockery of the trial. 

Yachuri succeeds Karat

Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechuri was elected the fifth general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). S. Ramachandran Pillai name was proposed by the outgoing general secretary Prakash Karat. Mr. Pillai's candidature was withdrawn and paving the selection of Yachuri. 

Who took over as new CEC - Nasim Zaidi

Among the Important Appointments Current Affairs, On 19th April 2015, Nasim Zaidi assumed charge as the 20th Chief Election Commissioner of India. He succeeded H.S. Bramha who retired on 18th April 2015 after completing his term.

After taking the charge he said, "I feel privileged and honoured that I have been given this responsibility to lead one of the finest institutions that the Indian Constitution has provided. I am conscious of the onerous task in hand".

LIC bought Rs. 300 cr worth of shares in which company - Infosys

On 19th April 2015, Among the Important National Current Affairs, LIC which is a state owned life insurer has increased its stake in Infosys to 4.81 percent. LIC purchased shares worth over Rs 300 crores in the January-March quarter.
Taking into account the current market value of Infosys shares, the 0.12 percentage point hike in LIC's holding in the company would be worth about Rs 317 crore.
