UPSC Civil Services Exam results declared, 4 out of 5 toppers are women
- The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) have announced the results of its civil services exam, top four are women
- This year’s toppers are Ira Singhal, Renu Raj,Nidhi Gupta and vandana Rao and Suharsha Bhagat
- A total of 1,236 candidates have been recommended for appointment
- It is the first time that the final results have been declared within four days of the closing date for the interviews
Four Indian-Americans honoured with Great Immigrants award
- Four Indian-Americans, including top US attorney Preet Bharara, are honoured with this year’s prestigious "Great Immigrants: The Pride of America” award
- The other three areRakesh Khurana: Dean of Harvard College, Madhulika Sikka vice president: executive editor of Mic and Abraham Verghese: eminent physician, professor and author
- The immigrants have been honoured for their “vital” contributions to the fabric of the nation and the strength of its democracy
- The 38 immigrants honoured this year come from more than 30 countries around the world and represent leadership in a wide range of professions
