PM Narendra Modi launches Smart Cities Mission

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches Smart City Mission 
• Modi launched at a function at Vigyan Bhawan the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – these improves the quality of urban living and drive economic growth
• The central government going to spend about Rs. 400,000 crore on these missions over the next six years

Sahitya Academi announces ‘Bhasha Samman’ awards

• Sahitya Academi ‘Bhasha Samman’ for contribution to classical and medieval literature in various languages were announced
• K Meenakshi Sundaram has bee selected from south for contributions to Classical and Medieval Literature for year 2013
• Acharya Munishwar Jha has been selected for Classical and Medieval Literature East for the year 2014
• Charu Chandra Pande and Mathuradutt Mathpal have been jointly recognised for their work towards the enrichment of Kumauni
• The award will be presented by the Sahithya Academi President later
