1000 rupees pension scheme under EPS to continue

* Union Government of India has approved the continuation of 1000 Rs monthly  pension scheme under Employees pension scheme (EPS).

   * Retirement fund body EPFO has suspended the Rs 1,000 minimum monthly pension scheme from this month, a decision which will hit about 32 lakh pensioners.

   * The scheme was launched with effect from September 2014, hiking the pension amount to a flat Rs 1,000 per month for those who were getting lower amount earlier.

    NDTV’s Executive Co-Chairman to receive RedInk Award 
   
   Dr Prannoy Roy who is the Executive Co-Chairman of NDTV Group has been awarded the 2015 RedInk Award for Lifetime Achievement for Excellence in Journalism

    * The awards were presented by the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu

    India, US Agree to Renew Pact on Agri-Cooperation

  * US Ambassador to India Richard Verma today called on Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and both agreed to take steps to renew the 2010 agri pact between two countries to include new areas.

  The Minister expressed interest in the US technology, especially weather forecasting systems for improving preparedness as well as redressal of problems caused by natural calamities. 
    
    * The two countries agreed to give renewed focus on cooperation in agriculture and take immediate steps for renewing the memorandum of understanding 

    FIR Against Snapdeal for Online Sale of Medicines

.    * The Maharashtra government filed a first information report (FIR) against e-commerce major Snapdeal.com for alleged online sale of medicines

     * The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a raid last month after receiving information that various medicines, including prescription drugs, were being sold online

     * Snapdeal had stated that it was de-listing drugs from its portal and would help investigators
