Recent achievement of ISRO



Indian Space Research Organisation is the space agency of the Indian government headquartered in the city of Bengaluru
  • ISRO built India's first satellite Aryabhata which was launched by the Soviet Union on 19 April in 1975.
  • The father of space program is Vikram Sarabhai
  • The organisation is brought under the Department of Space


 Why ISRO recently in the news

  • Launched 20 satellite in a single mission surpass 2008 record of launching satellite
  • It includes 17 foreign satellit, 2 Indian university satellite and primary cartosat-2 series
  • The ISRO launched satellite of Indonesia, USA, Germany, Canada

  • It is an indigenously  built satellite which is an earth observationary satellite part of Indian Remote Sensing Program

How it launched 


  • Lifted with the help of PSLV6 (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle)
  • PSVL is the third generation of launch vehicle
  • It has 4 stages using solid and liquid propulsion systems alternatively
  • There are different generation in the Launch vehicle
  1. First Generation is SLV (Satellite Launch Vehicle)
  2. Second Generation is ASLV (Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle)
  3. Third Generation is PSLV
  4. Fouth Generation is GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle)

  • 70 nations claimed as of 2015
  • According to the Space Foundation list in 2010 52 nation had satellite in the orbit and 13 of those have launch capability
  • Countries with launch capabilities are

  2. European Space Agency
  3. ISRO 
  4. Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency
  5. NASA
  6. Russian Federal Space Agency
  • Also Iran, Israel, Italy, North Korea, South Korea, France, Ukraine have the launching capability
  • ESA and NASA are the strongest. Russia have funding problem
