India ranks 8th in Australia's tourist inflow till May

  • India gained eighth position for tourist arrivals in Australia till May this year, with over 27.5% more Indians choosing the country as their travel destination
  • According to latest official data released by Tourism Australia (TA) was ranked Australia's tenth largest inbound market for visitor arrivals in 2014
  • During January-May this year, a total of 105,000 Indian tourists have arrived in Australia as compared to over 82,000 tourists for the same period last year
  • There were 196,600 visitors from India for calendar year 2014, an increase of 16.6 % compared to 2013

United Overseas Bank and Temasek to provide $500 million to start-ups in India, China

  • Singapore-based United Overseas Bank (UOB) and Temasek will provide debt financing worth USD 500 million to start-ups in India, China and Southeast Asia countries
  • Temasek is an investment company based in Singapore
  • Both bank UOB and Temasek signed into an agreement to provide venture debt financing to start-ups
  • This is an initiative for the next generation of leading companies, providing the support they need to scale and succeed

Ananth Narayanan is Myntra's new CEO; Mukesh Bansal to be Board chairman

  • Flipkart-owned mobile fashion store Myntra has appointed  Ananth Narayanan as its chief executive officer
  • Mukesh Bansal who is currently serving as the head of Flipkart's commerce platform
  • Narayanan was previously with McKinsey, leading its product development in Asia and its Automotive Practice in India
  • He will join at the company's head quarters in Bangalore by the this month last

India ranks third in green buildings: Report

  • India has been ranked third after Canada and China in green buildings, according to a new report
  • Canada 26.63 million gross square meters (GSM) of LEED space
  • China (21.97 million GSM), India(13.24 million GSM) and Brazil (5.22 million GSM)
  • These three countries currently represent more than 33% of global greenhouse gas emissions
  • China and India representing the largest source of projected growth in global emissions in the coming decades, USGBC (US Green Building Council)
