Delhi Metro Gets Its First Driverless Train

  • The Delhi Metro received its first train which is capable of running without a driver.
  • Manufactured at Changwan in South Korea, the new-age train that arrived at the Mukundpur depot in New Delhi
  • These trains will run on the upcoming Majlish Park-Shiv Vihar (Line 7 - 58.596km) and Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden. Both these are expected to be operational by the end of 2016.
  • A total of 26 coach trains will be manufactured in South Korea by the end of this year, while 61 will be manufactured at the Bharat Earth Movers Limited

US Asks India to Consider More Steps to Facilitate Trade

  • US has encouraged India by the economic reforms being pursued by the Indian government, and suggested to consider taking additional steps for facilitating trade.
  • And in April, India published its new 5-year foreign trade policy, announcing new programs aimed specifically at implementing the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.

Inderjeet Singh wins gold in Men's shot put at the Asian Athletic Championship 

  • In the first day of the 21st Asian Athletics Championships Inderjeet Singh bagged a gold medal in men’s shot put event
  • He won a silver medal in 2013 World University Games and a bronze medal winner in last year’s Asian Games in Incheon
  • Inderjeet became the eighth Indian shot putter to win a gold medal in the history of Asian championships
