- Charles Correa, one of India’s greatest architects and urban planners, died on Tuesday night
- He was the first chairman of the National Commission on Urbanisation
- Correa was one of the major advocates of what he called the open-to-sky space concept, which was reflected in his work across the world
- Correa was also associated with several low cost housing projects in many cities and was the chief architect for Navi Mumbai
China Seeks Rail Link Between Kunming and Kolkata
- China is to establish a high speed rail link between Kunming and Kolkata as part of its efforts to revive the ancient silk route
- The 2800 kilometer rail route could be a critical component for the BCIM corridor that seeks cross border trade and flow of people.
- Currently Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, is only connected to Kolkata.
India Raises Duties on Steel Products to Counter Chinese Imports
