Mohan Kumar is appointed as newDefence Secretary

• Senior IAS officer G Mohan Kumar is appointed as new Defence Secretary for a two year Term

• Mr. Mohan Kumar is a 1979 batch IAS officer from Odisha cadre and presntly Secretary in Defence production

Pak, LeT Flags Hoisted in Jammu and Kashmir Again

• Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was reviewing the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, the supporters of moderate Hurriyat leader and cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq hoisted Pakistani and LeT  militant outfit’s flags during a rally in the city’s downtown areas.

• They announced that  the “freedom struggle” will continue till Kashmiri people were granted their right to determine their fate.

Environmental Democracy Index 2015 released; India at 24th position

• Washington-based World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Access Initiative on released the first Environmental Democracy Index (EDI) for the year 2015. 

• The index evaluates the environmental democracy in 70 countries based on recognized international standards and India at 24th position
