Fifty nations, including India, sign agreement on China-led AIIB
- Fifty nations including India signed an agreement for providing legal china led 100 billion $ Multilateral Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Ambassador Ashok Kantha signed the document for India
- 50 founding countries gathered at the Great Hall of the People for the signing ceremony
- Australia was the first country to sign the agreement, followed by 49 other members and seven more countries are due to sign by the end of the year
- AIIB will have authorised capital of $100 billion, and Asian countries will contribute to up to 75% of the total capital
- Each member will be allocated a share of the quota based on their economic size, according to the agreement
Former J&K chief secretary Ashok Jaitley passes away
- Former J&K chief secretary Ashok Jaitley passed away on 30-06-2015 morning
- He served as chief secretary of the state, when it witnessing militancy related incidents on the daily basis
- Along with Kashmiri officers, he had signed a protest letter that was dispatched to the Centre government against the killings of innocent civilians
- Jaitley joined the IAS in 1964 and was assigned the Jammu and Kashmir cadre.
- From 1996 to 2002, he served as the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.
- He also served as advisor to the state government under the chief minister ship of Farooq Abdullah for one year soon after his retirement
Jayalalithaa back in Assembly; wins by 1.5 lakh margin
- AIADMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has an impressive victory in the R K Nagar by-election with 1,50,722 votes
- Out of the total votes polled in the city constituency, a massive 88.43 per cent of the electorate had voted
- She had to fulfil the constitutional requirement of getting elected as MLA within six months of becoming Chief Minister
