Azim Premji, Shiv Nadar among world's 20 richest tech czars: Forbes

  • Wipro chairman Azim Premji and HCL founder Shiv Nadar are the only two Indian tycoons in the top 20 richest people in the world of technology, according to an inaugural list by Forbes
  • In the Forbes list Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is the topper
  • Premji is ranked 13th on Forbes' first ever list of '100 Richest People In Tech', followed by Nadar on the 14th spot
  • Forbes said Premji, 70, who has a net worth of $17.4 billion and Nadar has a net worth of $14.4 billion

Railways Ministry signs four MoUs to save power, improve efficiency

  • Four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between the Ministries of Railways, Power and New & Renewable Energy for energy conservation, transmission and solarisation
  • The current energy bill of Rs. 12,500 crore is likely to rise over the next few years as passenger and traffic rises. 
  • The agreements, was a step toward increasing savings on the power front for the Railways, which is the largest power consumer in the country
  • In the second agreementThe Ministry of New & Renewable Energy to promote solar energy usage while it signed a third MoU with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to identify technologies to improve energy utilisation
  • The last agreement was signed between the Railway Energy Management Company and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd for implementation of energy efficient systems and conservation projects for the Railways

Acharya Dev Vrat Sworn-in as 27th Governor of Himachal Pradesh

  • Acharya Dev Vrat was today sworn in as the 27th Governor of Himachal Pradesh
  • He would be 27th Governor and 18th regular Governor of the state since January 1971, when Himachal was granted full statehood
  • He has served as Pracharya (Principal) in Samprati Gurukul, Kurukshetra for 34 years and had been actively involved in social activities including environment protection, promotion of Yoga, Ayurveda and naturopathy
