Cancer second leading death globally : Study

  • The incidence of cancer has grown to high rate and the death rate is falling a study shows
  • The study, was conducted by an international consortium of researchers, coordinated by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington
  • Based on the study breast cancer is the  leading cause of cancer deaths among women in India, while deaths due to lung cancer topped the list for men, according to a new study
  • In 1990, 34,962 women died due to cervical cancer in India. In 2013, 40,985 women died due to cervical cancer while 47,587 died due to breast cancer. Cervical cancer cases, in fact, recorded the lowest increase during this period at 0.2 per cent. 
  • 30,188 men died due to stomach cancer in India in 1990, lung cancer was the leading cause of cancer deaths among men (45,333) in 2013

India on top in hunger list

  • India  gas the highest number of hungry people in the world after china according to United Nations natural hunger report
  • According to the UN report on hunger India has 194 million huger people 
  • In 1990 to 1992 the global level was 1 billion and on the recent report the number dropped to 795 million in 2014 to 2015

Singapore appointed  S. Chandra Das Indian Orgin as envoy to Sri Lanka


  • Indian- origin diplomat S Chandra Das was appointed as Resident High Commissioner to Sri Lanka by Singapore Government who was served as Singapore’s Trade Representative in the USSR earlier
