PM Modi Launches Skill India Initiative That Aims to Train 40 Crore People
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched projects that aims to train over 40 crore people in India in different skills by 2022
- The initiatives include National Skill Development Mission, National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) scheme and the Skill Loan scheme
- The government's scheme, PMKVY, will incentivise skill training by providing financial rewards to candidates who successfully complete approved skill training programmes
- The scheme aims to recognise and provide skill to 24 lakh youth who lack formal certification, such as workers in vast unorganised sector
- Special camps are being organised at 100 locations with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and a national SMS campaign is being rolled out to build awareness of the program, reaching about 40 crore subscribers
Tatas, Boeing team up to build aero-structures, drones
- Tata Advanced Systems Ltd and Boeing have entered into an aerospace and defence manufacturing pact.
- The two companies will co-produce aero-structures and collaborate on developing integrated systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles
- The agreement was signed by Shelley Lavender, president of Boeing Military Aircraft, and Sukaran Singh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TASL
- Based on the new partnership, both companies expected to deliver high-quality aero-structures out of India.
- The TASL deal is seen as giving a major fillip to the ‘Make in India’ initiative,the Mahindra Group, too, recently signed a multi-million dollar aerospace contract with Airbus
