  • International Women's Day celebrated across the world on 8th March 2013 as the theme for 2013 International Women's Day- A promise is a promise: Time for action to violence against women. 
  • To mark the International Women's Day, the Bombay High Court has directed that cases of sexual offences against women should be handled by the courts presided over by a lady judicial officer, having all-women staff. It is implemented from March 8, 2013. 
  • The Right of Citizens for Time-Bound Delivery of Goods and Services and Redressal of their Grievances Bill, 2011, was approved by Union Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on March 7, 2013. 
  • Milos Zeman has been inaugurated as the third Czech president since the collapse of communism, succeeding conservative Vaclav Klaus. 
  • Nicolas Maduro Sworn In As Acting Venezuelan President, Succeeds Hugo Chavez died on March 5, 2013. Hugo Chavez following his own political ideology of Bolivarianism and "socialism of the 21st century", he focused on implementing socialist reforms in the country as a part of a social project known as the Bolivarian Revolution, which has seen the implementation of a new constitution, participatory democratic councils, the nationalization of several key industries, increased government funding of health care and education, and significant reductions in poverty, according to government figures. 
  • North Korea ends all peace pacts with South Korea and closes the main Panmunjom border crossing inside the Korean Demilitarized Zone. 
  • Curiosity Rover is a car-sized robotic rover exploring Gale Crater on Mars as part of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission (MSL). Curiosity was launched from Cape Canaveral on November 26, 2011, at 10:02 EST aboard the MSL spacecraft and successfully landed on Aeolis Palus in Gale Crater on Mars on August 6, 2012, 05:17 UTC. The Bradbury Landing site was less than 2.4 km (1.5 mi) from the center of the rover's touchdown target after a 563,000,000 km (350,000,000 mi) journey. 
  • In Bangladesh, widespread protests result in more than 50 deaths after Islamist politician Delwar Hossain Sayeedi is convicted of war crimes and sentenced to death.
