Anti-submarine warfare ship launched in Kolkata
*Kavaratti, the corvette which is 90% indigenous, was launched at a glittering ceremony


*The fourth and last anti-submarine warfare ship being made for the Indian Navy was launched here on Tuesday, adding a feather to the cap of domestic manufacturing for naval forces.

*The 3,300-tonne Kavaratti can reach a speed of over 25 knots. An X-shaped hull, full beam superstructure, inclined ship sides and an Infra Red Signature Suppression (IRSS) system increase the stealth feature of the ship.

*Navy officials said the weapons systems on the ship were largely indigenous.
*The Project-28 ships also have Total Atmospheric Control System (TACS), capable of fighting in nuclear, biological and chemical warfare conditions.

Delhi Government to Launch 'Pay and Play Scheme' to Promote Sports

*To promote sports among people of all age groups, Delhi government has decided to launch "Pay & Play Scheme" at the designated stadiums or sports complexes where they can play the game available there after paying a nominal fee of Rs 100.

*To make playing easier for all, the state government has ordered opening up of several stadiums and sports complexes.

*The scheme would begin from July 1 in the morning session

MP Government to Institute Award in Name of Aruna Shanbaug


*Madhya Pradesh government announced an award of Rs one lakh in the name of Aruna Shanbaug, the nurse who was raped and gagged with a dog chain that left her in a coma for 42 years.

*Madhya Pradesh government will give an award of Rs one lakh every year to a person working in the field of crime against women in the memory of Aruna Shanbaug

*The panchayat was organised to announce new women's policy and mitigate problems faced by women in the state.
