Earthquake in Nepal, 1500 were killed

*Massive Earthquake of 7.9 magnitude on the Richter scale and a series of aftershock hit several parts of Nepal.

*1500 people died and over 1500 injured Historic Land mark such as Dharahara tower in Kathmandu were destroyed in the impact.

*The epicentre of the quake was Lamjung district in western Nepal. 

*At least 38 killed in UP, Bihar, WestBengal. 10 dead and more missing in the Everest Avalanche.

Today is World Malaria Day
*World Malaria Day is observed today globally.
*The theme from 2013 to 2015 is Invest in the future, Defeat malaria to call attention to efforts to finish the job 2015.
*World Malaria Day was established and approved at the 60th World Health Assembly (WHA) in March 2007.
*On World Malaria Day advocates and citizens around the world raise awareness of malaria as a disease that is preventable and treatable and mobilize action to end the ravages of malaria.
*Worldwide, more than 1200 children die every day from Malaria, the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF said in its report.
*According to the recent report by the World Health Organization, since 2000, Malaria deaths worldwide declined by 47 percent.
Activist Sabeen Mahmud gunned down on her way to home
*Sabeen Mahmud, a Karachi based activist killed. She was gunned down as she was driving to home from her coffee shop.
*She refused to employ armed guards to protect her as many others do in Pakistan
*Prime Minister Nawaz Sherif condemned the killing and ordered a full inquiry.
 Assam awarded as Best e-Panchayat state
*Assam has been awarded as the Best e-Panchayat state.
*Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the award to state Rural Development minister yesterday in New Delhi.
*Commissioner of Assam Rural Development said that 8 Panchayat Raj Institutes also got Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Shasaktikaran award . These are - Morigaon Zila Parishad, Agomoni Anchalik Parishad,Boitamari Anchalik Parishad, Ketri Gaon Panchayat, Mayong Gaon Panchayat, Chandrapur Gaon Panchayat, Baghara Gaon Panchayat and Halakula Gaon Panchayat.
Al-Queda allies take key town in Syria
*Al-Queda Syrian afiliate and its allies seized the last major government-held city in Idlib province.
*The capture of Jisr al Shunghur in the northwestern province comes nearly a month after the same coalition of opposition forces.
*The fall of the city opens up a strategic assault route for the rebels to neighbouring Lakia Province.
